So the love of your life just asked you to marry them, and you said yes! As you revel in this special moment with the excitement of this day pulsing through your veins, you look at your fiance and a thought crosses your mind “….what do we do now?”

Tell your family

Unless you want to keep it a secret and surprise them, it’s a good idea to let your family know right away. They will appreciate being one of the first people to know.

Take a breath and celebrate

This is a moment that you will want to remember, take a deep breath and take it all in. Stare into your fiancés eyes, grab your favorite drink, or go out for dinner somewhere special. You could also invite some friends to celebrate with you. Whatever you decide to do, make it special so that it’s something you’ll always remember.

Share it with the world

Once you are ready, go ahead and take that cute selfie with your fiancé and the ring. Share it with the world and don’t forget to change your relationship status on Facebook.

Schedule your engagement photo shoot

If your fiancé (the one who popped the question) didn’t plan a photo shoot yet, no worries. Call a local wedding photographer and see if they do any engagement/wedding packages. Got engaged on Maui and getting married on Maui? This is a great way to save some money and have a consistent photography style.

Begin talking “wedding”

Do you want to have a destination wedding? What about a morning or evening ceremony? Where do you want to go on your honeymoon? So many things to think about! There are no right answers, remember this is YOUR day.

Choose your wedding party

Who do you want to be by your side while you say “I Do”? The choice might be obvious...or not. Ask them in a fun way, check out these fun ideas on Wedding Forward.

Start a wedding website

A wedding website, like the one you can get for free from The Knot, is an invaluable resource. It will keep everyone in the loop and up to date with your wedding plans. The Knot also has some amazing features when you sign up for a wedding website. You can manage your guest list, seating arrangement and so much more all from one place!

Start your Pinterest board(s)

Pinterest is now your best friend. Let your imagination come alive as you figure out how you want your wedding to look. Create your “wedding board” and start pinning everything that you like. Find colors, textures, patterns, flowers and more. Your options are endless and only limited to your imagination. You can make the day as classic or as unique as you are!
